TRAVEL TIPS
SUN, WIND, TEMPERATURE
The southwest coast is under the full influence of the Atlantic Ocean. Despite high solar radiation, temperatures are pleasantly around 25°C even in high summer. There is usually a pleasantly cool breeze from westerly directions. A (hooded) jumper is therefore a must in your luggage for the evening programme, even in summer. At night, the climate ensures a restful sleep and few mosquitoes.
MULTI- MICRO CLIMATE
Depending on the weather, very different micro-climates can develop within a 30-minute drive. If an Atlantic cloud front covers the western part of the coast, you can often swim in the sunshine on the southern beaches in less than 30 minutes by car. Or vice versa. Basically, if you drive east along the southwest coast, the temperatures rise.
FLIP-FLOP HOLIDAY
On the west coast, it's casual and easy-going. Flip-flops, swimming shorts and a hoodie - that's all you need.
If you like to go for a chic stroll in the evening, you can do so in Lagos, for example. With a wetsuit, you have maximum Atlantic fun. These can be rented locally in all sizes. Just like all the equipment for surfing & Co.
CAUTION WITH TODDLERS
Families with small children will have noticed that the pool is directly adjacent to the house and is not fenced in. For all those whose nerves can easily cope with this, there is an adjustable high chair and a baby cot with two lying heights and a changing tray. The stairs can be closed off at the bottom.
BEACH PICNIC
It's best to pack a few treats as well as your swimsuit. A sunset picnic is simply the crowning glory of a perfect beach day. Or you can walk up to the cliff with your basket and enjoy your delicacies with a view of the fascinating rock scenery.
SPECIAL: SURF LESSONS FOR CHILDREN
STANDING THRESH
Children's courses are best booked at Praia do Amado or Praia da Arrifana because of their shallow water and constant white water waves.
COACHING
There are various surf schools with courses for every level and also multilingual coaches for the little ones. After warm-up games and theory lessons on the beach, what you have heard is gradually put into practice in the water.
FUN, FUN, FUN
Quick successes and great fun are pre-programmed - along with cool holiday photos and happy children.
EQUIPMENT
Surfboards and wetsuits can be rented on site. Special sunblock for the face is also available there. The strong UV radiation should never be underestimated - even in overcast weather.
