SOUTHWEST COAST

THE PLACE TO BE

The southwest coast of Portugal is a breathtaking piece of land on the Atlantic Ocean and is largely a nature reserve. The Belly Beach House is one of the four houses of the Condominium Carrapateira Beach Houses. It is located in the fishing village of Carrapateira in a unique dune landscape and perhaps the most beautiful beach on the southwest coast and the ocean are within walking distance. Countless other beaches are just waiting to be discovered. The nearest larger towns of Aljezur and Lagos are less than 30 minutes away by car. The airport in Faro can be reached by car in 1.25 hours, Lisbon in 3 hours.

CARRAPATEIRA

Carrapateira is a relaxed, beautiful fishing village right in the Costa Vicentina nature reserve on the southwest coast of Portugal. The Rota Vicentina with its attractive hiking trails runs directly through the village. Carrapateira is best known for its two endless and natural surfing beaches, Praia da Bordaira and Praia do Amado. Several surf schools offer surf equipment for hire. There are several restaurants and a small grocery shop in the village.

TRAVELLING TIME

SPRING

In Europe, spring begins in the southwest of Portugal in March. From April onwards, temperatures rise (around 20 degrees) and the wildflowers come to life. Everything is green, blossoming and fragrant. In May, at the latest, the beaches wake up from their winter sleep and from June, tourism picks up. It is the ideal time for hiking, cycling and sightseeing.

SUMMER

July, August and September are the warmest months. Due to the constant cool wind coming from the Atlantic Ocean, staying by the sea is pleasant even in hot temperatures. July and August are the main months for water sport and beach activties. September is often the most pleasant month, with far fewer tourists and falling prices.

AUTUMN

In autumn, it is still pleasantly warm often until the end of November and so is the water temperature. The wind dies down, as do the prices. Ideal for excursions and exploring the sights

WINTER

Winter is characterised by low prices and few tourists. The weather is cool but mild with a minimum of about 11 degrees. Many restaurants are closed until spring. Deserted beaches invite you to take long walks and a crackling fireplace invites you to read and relax.
